Surface

Haven’t been posting for a while, or into makeup, skincare that much. But I’m about to re-pick up. Theme’s changed to green for summer; and there’s a little EOD.

Definitely not the best of my pic, really need to re-familiar myself with blogging skillz.

Lunasol 2009 summer ex, just used the glittering yellow and the red-ish color. Lunasol 09 x-max geminate liner, and lunasol foundation. After a 3 hr nap….

2010 Lunasol Spring Nature Eye SWATCH!

check out three out of five palette swatches on 2010 Lunasol Spring Collection - Nature Eye on himiko's blog

http://blog.onlylady.com/article/429910.html

the color payoff looks great, the "waves" look much lovelier in person, but the color combination is still a turn-off for me.

EST Emotional Multiple Eye in 05

IMG_0003-2

05 is the main color of this season for EST brand. At first I thought it was a grey palette paired with a orange color. But when I got this and saw the picture on the back…shoot why are they blue?

The two main colors turn out to be blue-based greys, my camera had too much exposure and I don’t know how to adjust it using the new photo editing program.

Today’s swatch, I think this is my best swatch yet!

I’m kind of disappointed with this palette, all the blocks have the same texture which wasn’t what I expected. The white highlight is too obvious, not very EST-ish.  The orange color is more like burned orange, so it could get dirty if I use too much. The greys or blue greys are just mostly greys, nothing too special.

Givenchy Poetic Brown Swatch

It took me a while to figure out how to do swatches on this palette, so I decided to go by column, the right most column is brown toned, the middle column is pink toned and the left most column is orange toned.

Right

Middle

Left

Used Mac Mixing Medium as eye primer to bring out the colors and the lovely sparkles. If I do not use eye primer, the highlighter colors all look the same on my eyelids, the darker colors do show up pretty well, but very matt and blend.

Then I tried by rows, here’s the middle row.

All of these swatches look pretty similar don’t they? I do love the sheen, the package, the cute variation of color, but at the same time I feel like I’ve seen all of these color somewhere before and the overall tone of the palette is too warm for me.

It is nice to have a complete set of browns and pink and a limited edition Givenchy palette, I don’t see myself needing anymore similar palettes in the future after purchasing this one. On the other hand I don’t see any reason to purchase this if you already have similar colors. Either way I do plan to purchase the Poetic Blue palette as well during Sephora’s FF sale.

My Stash

A new topic at Huaren was to discuss and compare Kanebo brand eye palettes, the most current discussion is on Purple Variations and with a bit of Lunasol’s 09 Collection thrown in there.

So I took some pictures of my stack while rearrange my little makeup train: I have much much less palettes than I originally thought. It’s practically nothing compare to (basically) any online blogger’s stash. Here are my purple variations: my favorite is Coffret D’or 3D, the one I can’t use is Mac X-mas edition from some year, Kate Gradation surprised me the most with its convenience to use.

I thought I had more and kept telling myself I should get anymore purple palettes, but as it turns out there are only a couple. Though purple is one of my favorite eye shadow color, maybe unconsciously I can’t distinguish between one purple palette from another, and the few that I have seemed like more.

Brown/Beige/Pink variation palettes are what I have the most. Surprisingly because I never really liked those color combination, they are a bit boring for me. But then again I had a revelation at the beginning of the year that brown or grey palettes are the most easy to use, so I might have unconsciously gathered these colors throughout the year.

Arrggg this is what I hate the most, spending money without realizing where it is spend. It is probably a good practice to record what I have purchased and how I have used these products.
I also reorganized my eyeshadow train for some new palettes, one of my goals is to keep all the eye shadow I’ve purchased in one single standard size train, swap or sell any old ones that I don’t use anymore.

Suqqu 2009 Marotsuya

Suqqu on the other hand has a super awesome website for their fall collection. The theme is to create shadow and light on your face, inspired by bronze statue. Thus the coloring of the eyeshadow are very neutral, and there's even a face framing type of product include.

But you gotta checkout their website, it is amazing, there are flash videos of makeup direction, the usual wallpaper and screensavers to download (i wish they keep their old ones on websites tho!), and even a little movie clip to watch.

Would I buy this collection? Probably not, i am scared of super neutral and brown/beige colors, i mean the idea of lights and shadow to create a sculpted look is great but I wouldn't spend 90 bucks on a shadow palette for that, I think I'll try to find some similar colors and see if i could recreate the look myself

EST 2009 Fall

EST 2009 Fall Collection's theme is...Angry Emotion? i can't find the concept page so that's what i 'm gonna go with. (otherwise check out A Touch of Blusher's blog)
I am seriously considering getting the main advertised eyeshadow though, even though it's rather pricy ><

I have 03 in this type of eyeshadow tho, altho I heard that the newer palettes (06-08) has even better quality
